Court Cases
What is a Care and Protection court case?
Sometimes during the investigation of allegations of abuse or neglect or during a clinical case following an investigation, DCF determines that the children must be removed from the home for their safety.
When DCF has removed or wishes to remove the child(ren) from the home, they will file a legal case in the Juvenile Court. The court case is called a Care and Protection case (often called a “C&P”). It is an ongoing court case in the Juvenile Court in which the custody of the child(ren) is in dispute with the Department of Children and Families.
